During our FIRST Robotics seasons we believe that outreach is a critical factor in building relationships with teams. Through outreach, we have not only viewed others teams in our community as competitors, but also as friends who support each another. We want to serve as role models for other teams so that they are supported during their journey.
FIRST ROBOTICS HANDS ON EVENTS
SUMMER CAMPS 2024
Our team hosted an Introduction to First Lego League summer camp, where we had many elementary school students ages 8 - 11 attend. They were introduced to the hardware and software aspects of how to create a successful robot that efficiently performs basic tasks movement tasks. We gave them useful tips on robot performance and innovation projects, based on our experience in FIRST competitions. During the camp, we made presentations and had them apply these fundamental skills. In the end, they had learned basic robotics skills.
In addition, we hosted another summer camp that was about 3D printing and creating basic CAD designs. In this camp, we had twelve school students of different ages participate and attend, and they did not have any 3D printing/ CAD experience in the beginning. Our team gave hands on workshops on how to use CAD and we taught them to 3D printing basic objects, they mastered this skill by the end of the camp. During the event, we also helped introduce newcomers to other local FIRST FLL teams.
FIRST ROBOTICS AWARENESS EVENTS
Our team, hosted a booth at the Issaquah Farmers Market in the summer. The overall goal was to spread awareness of FIRST Robotics to other people and provide information about the different branches of FIRST. For example, we talked about the benefits that FIRST provides along with the skills and abilities necessary. In addition, we told them the applications of FIRST Robotics, and how it can help them become successful in their careers.

PARTNERING WITH STEM COMMUNITY
We also partnered with a local after school STEM class provider, by being TA’s and mentors to their FLL teams and robotic programs. Moreover, we also mentored a rookie FTC team by assisting with game strategies and technical concepts like tuning Road Runner. In return, they cheered us throughout our journey.
